Living and working in Auckland

Planning everyday life in Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest urban area and has a wide range of education providers, industries and communities. Where you study or work strongly affects accommodation costs and commuting time.

• Compare neighbourhoods and transport links.
• Budget for rent, utilities, food and travel.
• Choose accommodation with realistic daily journeys.
• Check study and work conditions before arrival.

A city of different centres

Daily life is spread across the wider Auckland region rather than one compact centre. A good plan considers the location of the campus or workplace, access to public transport and the lifestyle offered by each area.
